Courgettes are vegetables that belong to the Cucurbitaceae family and they are high in vitamins.

Their calories content is low and they mainly consist of water. However, they are a source of fibre and have a great amount of essential nutrients like potassium, iron, manganese, folic acid and vitamins A and C.

AVAILABILITY
The endless spring season of Almería allows courgettes to be grown naturally and during the whole year.

FLAVOUR AND TEXTURE
The texture of courgette is soft but not flabby. It is crunchy on the outside and spongy on the inside. It tastes like pumpkin, with flowery and sweet touches.

SIZE AND COLOUR
They can grow to a length of more than 1 metre, but they are usually harvested when they are still unripe. In general, they are about 25 cm long.
There exist several varieties of courgette, whose colours go from intense yellow to dark green.
